Redesigning the works and processes

Operations Management

Redesigning the works and processes – when and how? Not now then when?

Before our mind goes wild on Redesign work, please be clear that. Redesign is not about making redundancy nor save cost in operations

ReDesign is about making the processes and operation as efficient and seamless as possible to make a better and sustainable environment for the employees as well as good experiences for the customers, overall a holistic environment for the workplace.

We know covid has kicked off an evolution, that is, forcing changes merciless on the way we work, after being almost two years, people got used to the new norm of working experiences compare the initial of change and seeing a lighter side of it, now we have an option ( Hybrid). the work and where we want to work.

Operations will always have the challenges with resources and process flows, only difference is, at what the level. Changes in Business Trends, Customers’ behaviour , economic situations, staff turnover and climate change!

The climate changes, we got more then we bargained for…

My story…

Many years back my ex-company made a good decision on a full scale set up of BCP, after 911 even though this unfortunately event didn’t had significant impact on our operations at that time. The purpose of putting BCP in place was to manage major crisis should it occurs, that is, getting the operation up and running within a target time frame.

During the setup we learned to look into the flows and processes and redesign to make it happened!

Our BCP works well! We used to backup for overseas office that hit with hurricanes and typhoons. And every year we are getting better on managing it.

Our takeaways…

Always deep dive into your processes, workflows and employees & customers feedbacks.

Is your processes/workflow efficient? (Timely, steps to completed, resources involved, levels of difficulties on a breakdown/crisis to bring up and running)

Can your work and process flows meet the requirement and work efficiently on hydrid today?

Equipement efficiency? The right equipment used and using the equipment correctly.

The lists goes on and we review every year.

This is an fruitful investment we made over time and the value is priceless.
